Sandy’s Digs
Sandy’s passion for gardening started as a young girl, visiting her grandmother. As Sandy says, “Grandma Larrick would let me have my way in her flower and vegetable gardens”. She taught Sandy how to sow seeds and harvest the bounty. Now a Grandmother (she is Ray Greenstreet’s mom), Sandy passes on her love of gardening to family and friends. You can often see Sandy at our garden center helping customers. In this pamphlet, Sandy shares her favorite garden companions with you.
So follow our tips, enjoy our plants, and when you see Sandy, let her know your gardening success story!
A bit about Sandy’s Digs… Greenstreet Gardens developed our “Sandy’s Digs” Program to help all gardeners be successful– from novice to advanced. We know there are lots of choices but not always the simple advice that will ensure success in the garden. We have researched, grown and tested varieties from Angelonia to Zinnia to compile what will perform in all areas of greater Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. These are the “work horses” of your garden – they will provide instant gratifi cation with minimal maintenance and will compliment your own favorites. You will be amazed and delighted at how quickly and easily they adapt to your garden.
Sandy’s Digs are perfect for new or existing flower beds. They make great partners with perennials in your garden. Create a hanging basket or a stunning potted garden for your patio or front porch. Options are endless with these plants. To accent an area, you may want to try using just one variety for a subtle monoculture statement. An infusion of one color can be dramatic. To add personality to another spot, mix and match – variety gives you a chance to express your style while having fun with these plants.
